Alison Morrison has been named as the woman who died earlier this morning after police were called to reports of a victim collapsed from stab wounds in Alexandra Avenue, Harrow.
A man, aged 48, was been arrested in Lincolnshire in connection with the murder and was taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.
Police were called at 07:47 am and the 45-year-old victim was taken by ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital where she died from her injuries at 11:39 am.
A post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.
Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Bonner, from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, who is leading the investigation, has appealed for witnesses to come forward.
He said: “Alexandra Avenue is a busy thoroughfare and I am sure that there will have been people who may have witnessed all or some of the incident who are yet to come forward. I would appeal to anyone who was in the area between 07.30hrs and 07.50hrs this morning, Thursday 18, to contact police.”
