Wetherspoons are to open a hotel in its first venture into Dublin’s city centre, having acquired a building on the popular Camden Street.
The Camden Hall Hostel, down the road from the famous Copper Face Jacks nightclub, among others, has become the fifth site for the pub chain.
The chain say it will apply for a pub license and planning permission to redevelop the site into a 100-room hotel.
“We are pleased to have acquired this excellent building in the heart of Dublin. Our aim is to build a pub and hotel on the site and we believe both will be assets to the city,” said chairman Tim Martin.
Wetherspoons said it will invest more than €4million in the redevelopment and create up to 75 new jobs.
The Camden Street venue joins the chain’s other pubs in Dublin suburbs Blackrock, Dun Laoghaire, Swords and Blanchardstown.
