London manager Paul Coggins has promised that his Exiles team will be fit and ready to go next Sunday, when they face Leitrim in their Connacht SFC semi-final replay at Dr Hyde Park.
The Exiles boss was speaking after seeing his side held to a 0-13 to 2-7 draw by Leitrim in a thrilling Connact SFC semi-final at Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada last Sunday, and both sides must do it all again just seven days later to determine who’ll meet Mayo in the final on July 21.
For both sides the game came at a cost. Leitrim lost Emlyn Mulligan in the 16th minute to a calf injury, while the Exiles’ man of the match Mark Gottche limped off before half-time with a groin problem, and there were plenty of others on both sides with weary and aching limbs.
Coggins, though, is adamant that London have the physical stamina, as well as mental strength, to cope with the demands, despite having just days to recover before again heading back to the west of Ireland.
“It would have been nice if it had been in Ruislip, but it doesn’t matter. We’re not concerned by that,” said Coggins. “We’ve done it all before, so we’ll be well ready for it.
