Warks hurlers gear up for a repeat performance

By Damian Dolan.

Ask Warwickshire hurling manager Pat Hoey whether the Midlanders can repeat their Lory Meagher Cup success of last year, and the answer is a determined ‘yes’.

In his third spell in the county hot-seat, Hoey has been there, seen it and done it, and now he’s looking to guide Warwickshire to back-to-back championship successes.

Denied the chance of trying their luck in the Nicky Rackard, and now minus their Fullen Gaels contingent, the road, however, is a precarious one starting with visit of Fermanagh to Pairc na hEirenan on Saturday.

But buoyed by an encouraging league campaign, most victory over Rackard hopefuls Sligo, Hoey is quietly confident that Warwickshire can once again have a championship run.

“It will be a big ask with us losing the Fullen boys, but that’s done and dusted and the lads are determined to get back there again,” he said.
