From today, Thursday November 28, movie enthusiasts will have the chance to start voting for their favourite films and performances of the year when the ballot opens for the Jameson Empire Awards 2014.
The ceremony will take place on Sunday March 30, 2014 in London and is expected to attract a host of star names from across the movie world.
Voted for solely by film fans, the Jameson Empire Awards is a unique event, ranking alongside other major awards and hot on the heels of the OSCARS® and BAFTAs, offering the cinema-going public the opportunity to get their voices heard.
Voters can choose from films released in the period January 31, 2013 – January 31, 2014 in a range of categories including: Best Male and Female Newcomer, Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Best Thriller, Best British Film, Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress and the Jameson Best Actor.
As the Jameson Empire Awards are chosen exclusively by the cinema-going community, they annually acknowledge a diverse mix of movies.
Previous Award-winners have ranged from Avatar, Inception and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy to The Inbetweeners Movie, Headhunters and In The Loop, with last year’s Awards honouring blockbuster sensation Skyfall, reflecting the film’s record-breaking box-office success.
Will the vote for the coveted Best Film award go to 2013’s biggest box-office hit to date, Iron Man 3, or perhaps Ben Wheatley’s cult hit A Field In England?
Each year, the Jameson Empire Awards attract some of the biggest names in Hollywood, with last year’s guests including: Daniel Radcliffe, Dame Helen Mirren, Martin Freeman, Tom Hiddleston, Danny Boyle, Sam Mendes, Samantha Barks, Sir Ian McKellen and Robert Sheehan. Previous years’ guests have included: Gary Oldman, Danny DeVito, Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley, Tim Burton, Russell Crowe, Christian Bale, Matt Damon, Sigourney Weaver, Emma Watson, Tony Curtis, Quentin Tarantino, Kate Winslet and Dustin Hoffman.
Editor-In-Chief of Empire, Mark Dinning, commented: “The Jameson Empire Awards has always prided itself on being the most inclusive and exciting movie awards in the world, and this year we are set to go one better. With our biggest-ever readership in our 25-year history now primed to cast their votes on what has been a simply astonishing year for movies, we can’t wait to see who will come out on top on March 30. Let battle commence!”
