Ulster Rugby say sorry for Twitter pic

By Madeline O’Connor

Ulster Rugby have had to apologise after a photograph showing two of their Irish international players with their bodies and faces covered with black make up appeared on social media site Twitter.

The photograph was posted on the Twitter profile of Irish international Paddy Jackson – who seemed to have a chain around his neck and hands – and also featured fellow Ulster and Ireland player Chris Henry.

They were supposedly posing as members of the Ethiopian Olympic team.

In a statement, Ulster Rugby said they apologised unreservedly for any offence caused, adding that the photograph was taken two years ago at an Olympic themed fancy dress party.

They said it was not the player’s intention to cause any upset and the photograph has since been removed.
