The High Kings in London

The High Kings

The High Kings will be in London for one night, showcasing their new album Friends for Life at The Borderline on July 8 ahead of its European release in September 2013.

Voted Ireland’s ‘Folk Band of the Year’ for the past 4 years, The High Kings are Brian Dunphy, Martin Furey, Darren Holden and Finbarr Clancy.

Hailing from accomplished musical pedigrees, the members of The High Kings grew up in households steeped in the Irish musical tradition and each member of the band witnessed first-hand the power of well-crafted Irish music on an audience.

The Irish ballad group, The High Kings were formed in 2008. The band consists of multi-talented performers Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, Martin Furey and Darren Holden.

Finbarr Clancy is the son of Bobby and nephew of Liam, Paddy and Tom, better known collectively as The Clancy Brothers.

Brian Dunphy is son of the well-known Irish folk singer, Sean Dunphy.

Martin Furey is son of Finbar of The Fureys.

Darren Holden, from Mooncoin in Kilkenny, has starred as The Piano Man in the Tony Award winning hit musical Movin’ Out on Broadway and on tour for four years. Darren was also the lead singer with Riverdance on Broadway and on tour for more than three years.

Together the four members of The High Kings play thirteen different instruments. They have released two studio albums, one live album, one DVD and have toured Ireland, USA and Europe.

Their forthcoming third studio album is produced by Sharon Shannon and John Dunford and consists of eight original songs and a selection of classic ballads.
