The Dubs are coming!

By Damian Dolan.

County Board delegates will decide next Monday (March 10) whether to give the green light to a challenge match between London and All Ireland champions Dublin at Ruislip on May 4.

If delegates vote in favour, it will be the first time the two counties have met in ten years, since their Round 1 All Ireland qualifier in June 2004, when the Dubs came out on top 3-24 to 0-6 at Parnell Park.

However, it won’t be Dublin’s first visit to Ruislip, as they played Parnell’s at the Emerald Grounds as recent as May 2011 under then manager Pat Gilroy. A Dubs team containing the likes of Bernard Brogan, Stephen Cluxton, Alan Brogan, Paul Flynn and Diarmuid Connolly winning 6-12 to 0-1.

Dublin’s visit could negate the need for London boss Paul Coggins to take his panel to Ireland, something he has done for the past three years in the lead up to their Connacht SFC qualifier with Galway at Ruislip on May 25.
