The Creative Peninsula

Immerse yourself in Northern Ireland’s finest Arts and Craft event, The Creative Peninsula, taking place in the Ards area from August 1 – 10.

Now in its thirteenth year, the ten day event organised by Ards Borough Council’s Craft and Arts Development Services, promotes all that’s great about Arts and Crafts in the Ards area, showcasing some of the finest talent Northern Ireland has to offer, with a unique programme offering free demonstrations and bookable workshops, exhibitions, a kids design challenge, creative cafés, open studios and more.

‘Craft in the Square’ will kick start the family friendly event, when a specially created tented craft village plays host to more than 20 local Artists and Makers, all gathered to showcase and sell their work, give demonstrations, and chat about what inspires them.  Works on show will include a mixture of Ceramics, Paintings, Wood Pen Turning, Textiles, Illustration, glass and Graphic Art.

‘Creative Cafés’ provide the perfect blend of Coffee, Cake and Create, with a series of unique workshops taking place throughout  Cafés in Ards, offering Jewellery Design, Clay Bird and Seal making.

Creative Workshops offer adults and children alike, the opportunity to learn and develop their painting, drawing and craft work skills, with a host of bookable workshops as well as free demos from local artists and makers, including ‘Alfresco Sunday Art’ outdoor workshops, hosted in the scenic setting of the National Trust’s Mount Stewart.

The ‘Kids Design Challenge’ will give mini makers the opportunity to create their very own piece of Craft, with the works being displayed in Ards Crafts for the month of August.

A mixture of Open Studios, Exhibitions and Creative Development Seminars ensure there is something for everyone at The Creative Peninsula.

The 2014 Creative Peninsula kicks off on Friday 1 August  2014 with ‘Craft in the Square’, Conway  Square, Newtownards and runs until 10 August 2014.
