Tara make it five in a row

Tara 4-13, Fullen Gaels 0-07

By Patrick Keane.

Tara Ladies won their fifth senior Camogie title in a row with a dominating victory over Fullen Gaels at Ruislip on Saturday.

The game itself was a one-sided affair with Tara able to attack at will while producing some rock solid defending to subdue their game opponents. At the start of the match both sides looked eager in the tackles with clashes in the centre of the park becoming a common affair with every high ball thumped forward.

As was to be expected, Tara began the faster rallying up a colossal eight-point lead without a response from the Gaels. Tara’s first two goals within the space of ten minutes were courtesy of some scrappy defending and precise finishes from Joanne Hamilton and Angela Kennelly.

Hamilton’s goal in particular was a classic case of how sloppy defending can cost your team early in such an important match.

Despite having a miserable start, the Gaels still showed tremendous heart and grit as they drove forward with every opportunity afforded to them by their opponent’s tight defence. Great credit has to be given towards Fullen forward Ciara Healy, who from set plays was an accurate predator between the posts.
