Reports suggest that the eagerly-anticipated Star Wars 7 is to be filmed on the Skelligs this July.
The newest Star Wars movie has already started filming in Abu Dhabi and in studios in London, but according to kerryseye.com, it is likely that the cast will be heading to the South West for filming this summer.
The Office of Public Works (OPW) who manage the island confirmed that: Skellig Michael is being made available for a film production shoot which is happening in late July 2014 on the Island. OPW will be providing onsite support through our staff who are present on the Island throughout the summer, as normal.
“They will be continuing to manage visitors throughout and will, obviously, continue to safeguard the National Monument and the Island, which is a World Heritage Site.”
It is was announced earlier in the year that rising star Dohmnall Gleeson, son of Brendan, will have a starring role in the latest episode of the cult sci-fi saga.
