London GAA round-up
The game was level pegging for the opening 25 minutes, with the sides never more than two points within reach of each other up until Fulham took a 0-6 to 0-5 lead.
But at the death of the first half they stole a goal, rattling Brendan Mulrooney’s net, before grabbing another point to leave it 1-7 to 0-6 at the break.
But they would increase their lead as the second half wore on, scoring an unanswered four points in the opening 15 minutes before the Kiernans pulled two back.
But a second goal on 41 minutes gave Fulham a 2-11 to 0-8 lead and they would see out the rest of the game to get two important points on the board.
They sit joint top with North London Shamrocks in Group B, who stormed to a huge 2-15 to 1-2 victory over Neasden Gaels who only managed three scores over the hour.
In Group A, last year’s defeated finalists Tir Chonaill Gaels won their game against Parnells 3-14 to 0-8.
An even first half that ebbed and flowed saw the Gaels eventually get on top thanks to a Killian Butler goal to send the lads in ahead at half time on a score of 1-06 to 0-6.
Further dominance in the second half and another goal from Butler saw Parnells go all out to get back into the game, resulting in quick breakaway attacks from the Gaels, one of which gave rise to a third goal courtesy of wing forward Kevin Rafferty.
This put the Gaels comfortably in control and put them on their way to seeing out the rest of the game. They sit top with Round Towers after their victory over Kingdom Kerry Gaels.
The next round of senior championship football is due to be played on September 9th, with Tir Chonaill Gaels playing Round Towers, Parnells facing Kingdom Kerry Gaels and in Group B the Kiernans face Neasden and Fulham Irish take on the Shamrocks.
Elsewhere Harlesden Harps recorded a comprehensive 1-15 to 1-5 victory over St Joseph’s in the VGC Group Intermediate Football Championship, with Padraig McGoldrick topscoring with seven points.
