St Gabriels and Robert Emmetts will contest the London Senior Hurling Championship final after reigning champions Kilburn Gaels were knocked out at the semi-final stage.
St Gabriels romped home to a 21-point victory over Sean Treacys after some clinical scoring from Eoin Kelly and Martin Ryan in the first decider on Saturday afternoon.
Fans at Ruislip were looking for a more competitive clash in the second semi-final and they were not disappointed with the tie coming down to just one point.
Kilburn Gaels, who lifted the title, were the favourites coming into the match, but no-one had written off the Emmetts who have had a consistent campaign in this year’s championship.
They stormed ahead with an early goal from Eoin Chalke to give themselves a three point lead at half-time.
Stephen Lambert came on for the Gaels in the second half and made all the difference as Kilburn regained the lead, but it was not to be after Daryl Roberts got a late goal to equalise before his side got the winner with a deciding point.
Emmetts and Gabriel’s will meet on November 1.
The relegation play-off between Brothers Pearse and CuChullains will take place this Saturday afternoon.
