Over the past decade Jessica Harrington has established herself as one of the leading National Hunt trainers inIreland, and in more recent seasons has also shown that she can more than hold her own against the country’s best trainers on the Flat.
Although Harrington will be forever associated with the great Moscow Flyer, she has consistently had high class performers in her care. One of her most notable early successes came when Oh So Grumpy gained the most high profile of his eight career victories, when prevailing in the 1994 renewal of the always competitive Galway Hurdle, under Mark Dwyer.
This win helped cement Harrington as one of the leading trainers in the ranks and it wasn’t long before the number of quality of horses in her stable increased, such as Space Trucker and Bust Out.
The latter only enjoyed a short racing career due to leg problems, but memorably came very close to taking the scalp of the brilliant Istabraq in the December Festival Hurdle. After this he went over fences and won the Grade 1 Arkle Challenge Cup.
