Father Pierre ‘Jalapeno’ Pepper is to step into the ring to raise money for charity this St Patrick’s weekend.
He has released a playful promo video for the ‘white collar bout’ to intimidate his rival, local man Joel ‘The Artful Dodger’ Madden ahead of their JJ Houghs Singing Pub clash on March 14.
The clergyman, of St Rynagh’s Church in Banagher, has undergone eight weeks of intensive training and tells his rival that he will be saying his prayers come fight night.
Fr Pepper has adapted Mulhammed Ali’s slogan for himself: ‘Float like a butterfly, sting like a priest.’
In the clip he taunts his opponent with biblical references stating that “judgment time is close at hand”.
“I know you’re really familiar with the Bible so I’m going to give you a quote tonight: ‘The Lord says vengeance is mine’,” he adds.
