Police have arrested a man who failed to stop when they tried to search his car in Colindale on Monday night.
When the vehicle failed to stop, police established that the black Ford Focus had been reported lost or stolen, and pursued him.
At 11:45pm in Shepherds Hill, N6, near the junction of Archway, the Ford Focus was in collision with a female pedestrian, aged 27. The Focus did not stop at the scene.
The 23-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday in the Tottenham area for a variety of offences including causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody at a north London police station.
On Monday night, the police vehicle stopped and officers assisted the injured pedestrian.
The woman was taken to hospital by LAS, believed to be suffering from leg and head injuries – she remains there receiving treatment. Her condition is serious but is not believed to be life-threatening.
The Ford Focus was later found in the Highgate area.
