Philadelphia, here she comes

The Philadephia Rose has won this year’s Rose of Tralee competition in Kerry

Maria Walsh, 27, a native of Boston, Massachusetts, moved to Mayo in 1994 and beat 31 other contestants to win the crown.

Her father Vincent is originally from Carravilla, Roundfort, Co Mayo but lived in Boston for several years.

She studied Journalism and Visual Media in Griffith College, Dublin and graduated in 2009 and moved to Philadelphia in late 2011.

She works as a Studio Manager for Anthropologie, a clothing and lifestyle brand.

The festival celebrates Irish communities across the globe.
