John Lewis sees 83% rise in sales as Shelby-chic hits the masses
Retailers are reporting that the new series of Peaky Blinders has created a surge in the sales of the flat caps worn by the featured gang.
Peaky Blinders, starring Cork actor Cillian Murphy, returned to the BBC for its third season last month, and John Lewis has seen a rise in popularity for the famous flat caps since it returned.
The Sunday Times reported that the retailer said that their sales of the garment rose by 27 per cent after the first episode of the latest instalment, and up by a staggering 83 per cent a fortnight later.
Peaky Blinders follows the antics of Tommy Shelby’s, played by Murphy, Birmingham-based gangsters who keep blades in the peaks of their caps, and stars Helen McCrory, Paddy Considine and Paul Anderson.
