Parnells earned a third successive win in their final Group Stage match of this year’s championship, seeing them through as the only unbeaten team into the knock-out stages.

A straight forward victory it was not however, as the Round Towers, who ended their championship campaign without a win, brought it to the North West London side.

The first half saw a freak goal go beyond the hands of Evan Byrne, and the keeper was called into action for the remainder of the half to prevent the Round Towers from getting what could easily have been a goal frenzy.

John Booth opened the scoring for his side with an early converted free from a tight angle by the left corner, before Jason Marron responded with his equaliser moments later.

Eamonn O’Neill and Sean Hurley exchanged scores before Gerry Cuniffe, Round Towers’ stand out player, dropped a dangerous ball into the square that Byrne looked to smother confidently.

However, Marron did not give up and put the keeper under pressure, resulting in him dropping the ball and allowing Marron’s momentum to slot the ball behind him into the goal.
