Parents’ 30-year fight to raise funds

The Irish Parents of a young Berkshire man suffering from Muscular Dystrophy (MD) are to hold a charity fundraising dance at Slough Irish Club next month on 10 October.

Monica and James Yorke, originally from Longford but now based in Twyford in Berkshire (pictured with Dean and Sue Barker), are active with Bracknell and Wokingham MDUK in raising funds for treatments of and research into the condition that has afflicted their 34- year old son, Dean, for the past 30 years.

To date they raised over £30,000 in 30 years-through Irish dances, bike rides and swims- but say next month’s fundraising dance is the most ambitious they have attempted.
