Irish American actress Olivia Wilde is happy to pay for her designer clothes, after realising how superficial it can be to receive free stuff.
The 31-year-old first found fame on TV series The O.C. and the success helped her swell her wardrobe with free designer threads, but just as quickly as the freebies arrived they disappeared, and the situation taught her a valuable life lesson.
“One day all these people were bowing down to me and throwing free clothes at me and telling me I was the best thing since sliced bread, and the next day… all of that disappeared,” she recalled to Elle.com. “That was great for an 18-year-old to learn, and I will never again take the BS seriously.”
The experience hasn’t put her off wearing designer clothing though – Olivia looked amazing on the red carpet at the Golden Globes on Sunday (10Jan16), in a dark red, super-plunging sequined Michael Kors Collection gown.
The Rush star accessorised the outfit with a chunky Bulgari jewelled choker, cocktail ring and gold clutch, and she also wore Aldo heels.
Olivia also showed off her enviable figure in the backless gown, but she admitted to Shape magazine last year (15) it was hard to get her pre-baby body back after giving birth to Otis, her son with actor fiance Jason Sudeikis, in April 2014.
“If I wasn’t at work, I just wanted to stay home and party with my little man – and by “party” I mean, of course, endless rounds of the Itsy Bitsy Spider,” she said. “Also, I like beer. And pizza. And these two ingredients are not found in the purely fictional book I like to call ‘How to Look Like You Never Made a Human: A Guide to Socially Acceptable Motherhood’.”
