Ireland’s former ‘Captain Fantastic’ Brian O’Driscoll is to be honoured at the RPA Players’ Awards 2016
Taking place on May 11th at Battersea Evolution, O’Driscoll has been named as the latest inductee into the RPA Hall of Fame, in association with KPMG, and he joins an illustrious list of previous inductees including: Sir Gareth Edwards, Martin Johnson CBE, Michael Lynagh and last year’s winner Jonny Wilkinson CBE.
During a distinguished fifteen year career, that included a total of 327 games and 108 tries, the allaction centre won two RBS 6 Nations Championships, including a famous Grand Slam in 2009, four PRO12 Championships and three European Cups.
O’Driscoll said: “It’s a great honour to be inducted into the RPA Hall of Fame alongside so many greats of the game and I look forward to being part of what promises to be a very special rugby evening.”
RPA Group CEO, Damian Hopley, said: “Brian is a wonderful ambassador of our sport who has exuded the values of rugby throughout his remarkable career.
“We’re absolutely thrilled he’s able to join us at this year’s Awards so the RPA members can pay tribute and celebrate his exceptional contribution to rugby.”
Inductees into the RPA Hall of Fame, in association with KPMG, are recognised by the RPA Players’ Board as having made an outstanding contribution to the international game.
