North London Comhaltas celebrates All Britain wins

THE North London branch of Comhaltas, chaired by Elaine Walsh, is celebrating a series of wins at the All Britain Fleadh, which was held in Glasgow on June 28 – 29.

Ms Walsh said: “We’re so delighted with how our students performed. We would like to congratulate everyone who won and more especially, to all who took part and enjoyed the experience recently in Glasgow. Oh, and best of luck to everyone in Sligo in August!”

The branch’s U15 Groupa Cheoil group won first place in the competition – the first time a group won for ‘London Irish Music School’, who are part of the North London CCE.

First place solo winners:

U12 concertina – Laura Sharrock

U15 Flute Slow Airs- Niamh Haran (sister Aoise was 2nd)

U15 Fiddle    – Molly McFadden

U15 Harp Slow Airs – Molly McFadden

U15 Banjo – Sean Rigney

U15 Harp – Ciara Fegan

U15 Accompaniment – Ciara Fegan

U15 Whistling- Maria Hunt

U18 – Harp Slow Airs- Niamh Nichols
