Emma Murphy O’Connor has been selected as this year’s London Rose.
Emma, 23, is from London and is a full time student at the University of Law in Moorgate.
Emma, whose father is from London and her mother from Galway, represented Cork-based sponsor Seaview House Hotel.
She was chosen ahead of 15 other hopefuls at the annual London Rose of Tralee selection ball at the Clayton Crown Hotel in Cricklewood for her energetic performance on the fiddle, captivating the audience of 240 people with tales from her gap year, accounts of her fundraising and why she wants to be a solicitor.
She was presented her sash by outgoing 2015 London Rose, A&E medic Dr Aisling Hillary.
Emma said; “The last two weeks have been an absolute whirlwind. We have all loved every minute of the London Rose tour and have experienced so much from meeting all the wonderful elderly people at the London Irish Centre lunches to the boot camp in the park.
“I have met some incredible, strong, intelligent and fun Irish women that I will always stay friends with and to be chosen to represent such a wonderful bunch of girls makes the whole experience even more of an honour.
“It has been a childhood dream of mine to go for it and I am very excited for the year ahead with very big boots to fill. I hope to do the London Irish community proud.”
Emma will go on to represent London at the Rose of Tralee festival in August. It is the first time that all Rose centres will go straight to Tralee to participate in the competition.
