Murphy’s power to victory

Fr Murphy’s 4-10, John Mitchels 1-04

By Martin Mannering.

Fr Murphy’s proved much too strong for John Mitchels in the final of the All Britain Ladies Intermediate Championship final at Parc na hEireann on Saturday, and were comfortable winners long before the finish.

The London girls had way too much pace and power for a Mitchels side that didn’t get into the pace of the game until it was far too late.

Lisa McSweeney opened the scoring with a point for the Liverpool girls in the second minute, but it would take them 15 minutes to register their second. By the time Catriona Treanor had scored that point from a 20-metre free Murphy’s had raised two green flags accompanied by three points.
