Mullins heads to Cheltenham with high hopes

By Simon Clifford

Of the horses Willie Mullins and I discussed, Pont Alexandre is my first pointer. This horse, who goes for the Neptune at the Festival, is “a horse to look forward to” according to Mullins and one that’s been showing plenty at home.

Mullins says that he has already won twice on left handed tracks and looks like a chaser in the making. He will love the stiff track at Cheltenham, which will bring out the best in him.

Mullins is really looking forward to seeing this horse at the Festival and is expecting a big run from him. He is a better ground horse, has strength with size and an engine to go with it.

He reminds him a lot of Florida Pearl, the more he got stuck into him “the more he showed him at home”.

So that’s what Mullins said about Pont Alexandre and in my mind he’s my Nap of all his horses at the festival in two weeks time.
