Mr Men get St. Patrick’s Day fever

The Mr. Men and Little Miss characters are celebrating St Patrick’s Day with a newly released Mr. Mischief and the Leprechaun, available now for £2.99.

In a retelling of a traditional tale, Mr. Mischief, known for playing tricks on everyone, wakes up one morning to find a Leprechaun sitting at his kitchen table.

When the two mischief makers join forces, the rest of the Mr. Men clan are in for some big surprises from the troublesome pair.

Mr. Men was the fifth most popular children’s book brand in 2014, selling over £2 million worth of books.

Mr. Mischief and the Leprechaun Cover ImageA recent Egmont Publishing poll of 1,000 parents and their children found that 60 per cent of parents prefer to read funny books with their kids.

Over half of children are more likely to read humourous tales and 46 per cent of them are more prone to read stories if it features characters they already know and like.

“It’s brilliant to learn from parents and children that laughter and favourite characters are still big motivators for them to share a book together,” said Sarah Bates, Publishing Director, Egmont Publishing.

“Humour is an integral part of the Mr. Men and Little Miss charm and it is key to them remaining a favourite for families for over 40 years.  It’s great to think that the tradition of sharing a story and a chuckle with iconic characters such as Mr. Tickle or Little Miss Sunshine is now being shared with the next generation of Mr. Men fans.”
