Shrewd Dublin funnyman Andrew Maxwell is just one of the comedians announced on the huge line-up for a comedy benefit gig this October for Mencap.
The Mencap Big Comedy Special will take place at Hammersmith Apollo on Wednesday October 2 and the comedy marathon will include heavyweight names such as Jo Brand, Jessica Hynes, Omid Djalili, and Richard Herring, with more to be confirmed.
All proceeds from the event will support Mencap’s continued work supporting people with a learning disability to live their lives the way they want to, campaigning for equal rights and providing support for families and carers.
Maxwell, who is currently hawking his latest show Banana Kingdom up in Edinburgh, is famed for his cutting-edge comedy and edgy social commentary (he once famously did a stand-up show in Belfast on The Shankill and then The Falls), and is a regular on One Night Stand for Dave, Conspiracy Roadtrip and Live at the Apollo for the BBC, Monumental for RTE and 8 Out of 10 Cats for Channel 4.
If you feel like raising money for a worthy cause and having a lot of laughs at the same time, tickets for the Mencap gig are £27.50 to buy online at or by phone on 0844 249 1000.
