Major incident declared as young people treated for drugs at Belfast gig

By staff reporter

Over 60 people were treated for the effects of drink and drugs last night at a concert by Dutch DJ Hardwell at Belfast’s Odyssey Arena.

The NI ambulance service declared”a major incident” at around 8pm. Six young people were taken to hospital with more treated at the scene.

John McParland from the NI Ambulance Service said: “It seems a lot of people turned up for the concert with drink already on board. They were very coy about what they’d taken but that will be determined at the hospital.”

Pubs Of Ulster Chief Executive Colin Neill said: There is no excuse for allowing underage kids to access alcohol. Whoever gave or sold the alcohol must be prosecuted.”
