Love is in the air

By staff reporter

A FEW weeks ago, Irish lad Jamie Kelly met a Canadian girl called Katie on a flight back from Dublin to Barcelona.

He was smitten by the young lady – but he got separated from her at Dublin Airport as they went through passport control.

Jamie’s friends, aware of how hard he had fallen for her, took to social media and with the help of the media in Ireland and Canada, tracked Katie down to Cork and put the pair back in touch.

On Tuesday they were reunited by phone on Ireland’s Ray D’Arcy Show to tell their made-for-the-screen story.

The following day, the two met up in Waterford, where they went surfing and then went for dinner, and joined Ray in the studio to reveal how their date went, confessing that they enjoyed a romantic kiss during their time together.

As the radio presenter noticed, they were very much at ease in each other’s company.  Jamie joked that during the surfing lesson they “felt like celebrities” with all the attention they were getting, while Katie admitted that her mum and her friends are all enjoying the story of the couple’s romance, grinning “Who doesn’t love this?”

Sadly, today Katie flies back to Canada to continue her studies for another year, and Jamie goes back to Ballinsloe where he’s “not working at a job he wants” to be doing, and hopes to find something in IT in Dublin.

In the meantime, only time will tell whether the pair’s high-flying romance turns into a long-lasting relationship.
