The London County Board goes into 2014 without a treasurer following Donal Corbett’s decision to stand down at last month’s convention after four years in the role.
In a year which should see work finally commence on the long awaited redevelopment of Ruislip, the board faces an immediate challenge of finding a suitable replacement at a crucial time with the necessary experience.
London has been tasked by Croke Park with raising £500k of the £4m plus for the proposed new development. Clubs have been asked to make their nominations for the first board meeting of 2014 on January 13.
Corbett had given the board 12 months notice of his decision at last month’s Convention and in giving his treasurer’s report for 2013, reminded clubs that during the redevelopment work on Ruislip, which could commence in August, the board’s revenue streams will be severely hit, with the county facing a ‘lean 12 months’ with no games at Ruislip, while there will also be loan repayments to be made.
