‘A limited number’ of tickets for the hotly anticipated Connacht Football Championship opener between London and Mayo at Ruislip have just been released.
The London PRO Declan Flanagan made the announcement, about the May 29 tie, on the official events page on Facebook yesterday evening.
The county board had previously said that it was likely to sell-out before the match due to ‘unprecedented demand’ and interest in the match.
It will make it London’s county grounds the first ever all-ticket event, with none likely to be available on the gate.
The matter was discussed at the latest county board meeting where Mayo season tickets, along with general ticket allocation were discussed along with the 3,000 capacity available at the Irish TV grounds.
Tickets can be purchased for £20 / €25 here.
The announcement also informs those affiliated with clubs here on what they can do to purchase tickets:
“Full Details on how buy tickets via the London County Board will be posted here tomorrow (Thursday 24th March)
Clubs and Members will be notified of these details in the morning.”
The opening Connacht championship game is always a huge social event in London, with entertainment put on at the grounds afterwards.
At present, Mayo are the overwhelming favourites with the bookies to win the match, with Paddy Power giving odds of 1-100 that they will win. London’s price is 16-1 and a draw is 40-1.
Mayo are third favourites with the Irish bookmakers to progress out of Connacht and lift the Sam Maguire, while London are given odds of 2,000-1 to win the All Ireland overall.
