Thousands attend LGBT Lisdoonvarna matchmaking event.
In light of Ireland’s referendum result in May, record breaking numbers attended the third annual LGBT matchmaking event in Lisdoonvarna. Traditional match-maker Willie Daly, who is well known for his matchmaking festival in the north Clare town, admitted that the LGBT event was still new for him.
He is yet to make a match for an LGBT couple, but is hopeful that it will come soon. Speaking over the weekend he said: “It is a new beginning for me and requires me to adjust my perspective and my mind-set.
“When a man comes up to me this weekend, it isn’t a woman he is looking for – it is a man.”
The attendees were entertained by Panti Bliss, who said ‘there is nothing like this festival anywhere in the world’, Katrina from Katrina and the Waves before Brendan Courtney presented a on-stage version of Blind Date.
