Actress Kristen Stewart has been named the new face of Chanel make-up
The Twilight star has regularly worked with the brand’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld and on Tuesday (02 Feb 2016), it was announced the 25-year-old will feature in a series of shots for Chanel’s cosmetics.
Acclaimed photographer Mario Testino captured the actress for the Collection Eyes 2016 campaign, and in the shots Kristen posed for a series of portraits which focus on the “different facets of a contemporary woman”, according to Chanel.
For one image, the actress is framed up close with her arm covering most of her face, except for one eye and her nose.
The black and white shot shows off a heavily lined eye and perfectly preened eyebrow.
Kristen has previously fronted campaigns for the Metiers d’Art Paris-Dallas collection in 2013 and she also starred in the short film, Once and Forever, which was directed by Karl Lagerfeld for the Metiers d’Art fashion show in Rome in December (15).
Kristen played a volatile young actress tasked with portraying Gabrielle Chanel in the biopic and Karl was mesmerised by her acting talents.
“She’s so good,” he gushed to WWD. “I think she’s one of the greatest actors of her generation. She gives the right emotion and the right intensity immediately so it’s very easy to work with her, like it’s easy to work with Geraldine (Chaplin, her co-star in the short film).”
Karl likes to work as if he were a stage director, not allowing his cast more than one take. He believes it keeps things “fresh”, and Kristen was a fan of his style.
“We didn’t receive scripts,” the actress shared. “From the outside it looked as though Karl was making it up as we went (along). And maybe he was.”
Kristen’s latest campaign will debut in March (16).
