Kingdom/Kerry Gaels 0-06, Fulham Irish 0-04
By Damian Dolan.
Kingdom Kerry Gaels have the chance to avenge last year’s county final defeat to Tir Chonaill Gaels, after winning a war of attrition against Fulham Irish at Ruislip on Sunday.
Not one for the purists, the Kingdom emerged from this brutal battle that saw referee Beano Collins dish out six yellow cards and it could easily have been more in a game that threatened to boil over throughout.
It was the Kingdom’s extra firepower in front of goal which ultimately saw them over the line in this tight game where every ball was fought for ferociously and moments of real quality were few and far between.
Lloyd Colfer, at times seemingly a one-man forward line, gave the Kingdom the lead in the fourth minute. The London player did well to salvage a point after only a crucial touch from Roger Morgan prevented Colfer from testing Michael McAllister, as he seemed primed to pull to the trigger.
