The castle where Kim Kardashian famously spent part of her Irish honeymoon in with her husband Kanye West, was sold last week for €3 million (£2.1).

After being on the market for over two years an Australian couple have purchased the property to use as their family home for several months of the year.

The castle is already under contract to hold several scheduled weddings throughout the autumn, but after that the 14-bedroom castle will be used privately by the Melbourne family who work in the transport industry.

The castle has 23,000 sq ft of accommodation and also features a wine cellar which can hold 55,000 bottles.

The family wish to remain anonymous but previous owner Emma and Declan Cormack have said they’ve moved on to work on other projects, including a potential Scottish seaside home.

“It was the ultimate dream [buying it]. We have been in property for years. We have bought various places and have done them up and I suppose it was the ultimate dream for us both,” said Emma.

“We wanted to buy a castle and restore it and in the process enjoy the work we had carried out on it.”
