‘Kill All Taigs’ painted on 5-year-old’s face

Northern Irish police have opened an investigation after pictures emerged of a five-year-old girl with a sectarian slogan painted across her forehead.

The girl’s picture has circulated the internet, with the image showing her with ‘KAT’ written across her face in paint in the colours of the Union Jack.

The slogan ‘KAT’ is shorthand for ‘Kill All Taigs’, an anti-Catholic slur, and the image has prompted complaints being made to the police.

The girl’s mother has been quoted as saying that she had not seen the face paint until after the picture had been taken at Twelfth of July celebrations.

She added that the children had done it to each other, copying the slogan from wall graffiti that they see every day.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police have received a report; enquiries will be carried out to establish if any offences have been committed.”
