Robert Emmetts 1-21
Kilburn Gaels 3-18
by Fiona O’Brien
Kilburn Gaels showed they are a force to be reckoned with in this year’s Senior Hurling Championship after coming out top in a tight mid-week match at Greenford.
Coming up against an impressive Robert Emmetts side, who managed to get within three points of the in-form team at the final whistle, Kilburn delivered a clinical performance to see them over the line and into the semi-finals.
Most impressive of last Thursday’s performance was the fact that with five minutes to go, only two of their 18 scores had come from frees.
It was not that they had many wides, Stephen Lambert claimed all four of the frees he stood up for, but Emmetts held their discipline to ensure not conceding easy points to a team well capable of converting from set plays.
