It’s honours even in a tough contest

St Gabriels 1-14
Bros Pearse 2-11

by Fiona O’Brien

In a toughly -and at times viciously – contested tie, Brothers Pearse and St Gabriels shared the spoils in the most enthralling contest of this year’s Championship so far.

Brothers Pearse thought they had stolen the win with the game’s final play but an earlier scoreboard error prevailed to merit Gabriels with a well deserved draw.

On paper, the game seemed to start slowly enough, with Gabriels going into the break with double the four points Pearse had recorded.

But anyone in attendance at Ruislip can vouch that the low-scoring was more than made up for in on-field action – which was best confirmed by the lengthy stoppage play Eddie Naughton was forced to grant to account for various fouls and injuries.
