Israeli Deputy Ambassador criticises some Irish protestors

By staff reporter

Israel’s Deputy Ambassador in Ireland has called certain Irish protesters “ignorant [and] anti-Semitic with an intensely rooted hatred of Jews.”

Nurit Tinari-Modai made the comments recently on Israeli military radio Galei Tzahal, where she was called upon to describe Irish public opinion of Israel’s actions in Gaza.

The diplomat answered by identifying three groups – the first who defend Israel, and the silent majority who have no opinion on the conflict.

The third group, however, she described as anti-Israel activists who are “ignorant [and] anti-Semitic, with an intensely rooted hatred of Jews.” She accused this group of vandalising shops selling Israeli goods and burning Israeli flags.
