Irish Guards’ first London match

Irish Guards' first London match

An understrength Gardaí Éireannach side were well beaten when they made their first London GAA outing in a challenge match against Harlesden Harps at the weekend

Harlesden Harps set up the match in preparation for their upcoming trip to Cavan on the first weekend in March and ran out 5-10 to 1-02 winners.

The match took place inside Hounslow Cavalry Barracks, west London, with some players missing as they had travelled to Dublin for the Ireland v Italy Six Nations tie.

Gardaí Eireannach, are the side from the Irish Guards, a regiment of the British Army, that were affiliated to London GAA before Christmas.

They are the first army regiment to become and affiliated club and will make their debut at junior level this season.
