Long established supplier to supermarkets is now delivering favourite Irish brands to Irish clubs and pubs

The largest dedicated supplier of Irish food brands to major supermarkets in Britain, O’Kane Irish Foods (established in 2003), has launched a direct delivery service to Irish pubs and clubs.

“When we rolled out our O’Kane Direct service to smaller independent retailers in Manchester last year, we simultaneously trialled a service to the Irish pubs in that area,” said Kate Lynch, on trade sales manager for O’Kane Irish Foods. It was so successful we decided to provide the service over a much wider area.

“Over the years, many publicans knew us as the company bringing favourite Irish foods to their local supermarket so there have been many requests to provide a professional and reliable service for the Irish pubs and clubs.

“I am, like everyone at O’Kane Irish Foods, really excited about the new project,” said Kate.

The first delivery was just before Christmas, to the popular Buckley’s Freehouse on the Streathfield Rd in Harrow.

Said landlady Noreen Buckley: “I am happy to be the first customer of the new service and it was very useful to avail of their Charity Hamper program. O’Kane’s provided an Irish Hamper completely free which we raffled in the pub to raise money for St Luke’s Hospice.

It was very popular with the customers.” O’Kane’s have traditionally done this through its very successful online business

The company is also known for its generosity in contributing its hampers to several Irish events to be raffled for good causes. “If any pub or club has a charity fund raiser coming up all they have to do, is make contact to discuss the arrangements,” said Kate.

Business owner and Eddie O’Kane is especially proud of his Irish Club initiative: “Like many people I have great memories of the Irish and Catholic Clubs in London and these were the bedrock of Irish communities here.

While there is no doubt some are struggling, we have found over the course of the research for this project, clubs which continue to do really well.

“Some of the Lancashire and Yorkshire clubs have evolved and continue to thrive.

“So early in December we collaborated with Slough Irish club to enable it to install an Irish shop within its premises, which has added a welcome additional stream of revenue. If this is something that would interest any club or indeed pub, please contact us.”

O’Kane Irish Foods is a fully owned Irish company importing Irish products for Irish consumers.

The company is known for generously donating hampers to several Irish events to be raffled.
