Gardaí are investigating after a human limb was discovered at a waste recycling plant in Dublin last night.

The leg was found at the Thorntons Recycling Centre on the Killeen Road in Ballyfermot at around 11.40pm in the middle of waste material by an employee.

Following the discovery, production at the plant was immediately stopped and the equipment shut down.

A doctor was called who confirmed the limb was from a human. The area was sealed off by gardaí and the State Pathologist’s office wasalerted.

The scene remains sealed off. A full search of the premises will take place today.
