A priest in the Philippines has been removed from his parish after a hoverboard incident
Hoverboards have been hitting the headlines in recent months after they began to malfunction.
An exploding two-wheeler burned down a house in Louisiana a few weeks ago; another scooter combusted in the same state in the past week. A gyroboard caused significant damage to a home in New York even more recently. Then at a mall in Washington, a scooterboard caught fire and shoppers were forced to evacuate.
Now a priest in the Philippines was filmed riding a hoverboard down the aisle during mass while singing a song to his congregation.
After the video garnered millions of views on Facebook, The Diocese of San Pablo issued a statement condemning the priest’s “wrong” behavior.
“That was wrong,” the Diocese of San Pablo, Laguna said in a statement.
“The Eucharist demands utmost respect and reverence. It is the Memorial of the Lord’s Sacrifice. It is the source and summit of Christian life. It is the Church’s highest form of worship. Consequently, it is not a personal celebration where one can capriciously introduce something to get the attention of the people.”
The diocese said the priest has been temporarily removed from the parish to “reflect on this past event”.
