Harlesden Harps will contest the final of this year’s intermediate competition after a closely fought replay against St Brendans.

Although there was just a point in the difference at the end, Harlesden always looked in control of this game, which was not as much of an epic as their first outing a week previously.

The Brendan’s opened the scoring through a pointed Niall Campbell free after two minutes, before Ben O’Mahony got a classy point from mid-range that Anthony Reddy had to tip over the bar on five minutes.

Harlesden seemed to have all the space and began to exploit it as John Rafferty claimed a point down the right, and after three let-offs from wides, Daniel Somers claimed the next for a two-point lead.

It was all one way traffic from this stage as James Minihan snuck in from full back down the left for a score, and next Somers would set up Ashley O’Halloran for the next.

Padraig McGoldrick pointed a free, and it looked like it would be game over with the next score as Harlesden smelt blood and attacked the Brendan’s goal in waves.

Ben O’Mahony did well to win the mark from the kick-out and then Darren Murphy passed to John Rafferty who offloaded it really well to set up McGoldrick for the opening goal.
