Each year the Irish start to embrace just one colour around early March, when St. Patrick’s Day calls for greens of all shades. But as the summer approaches, and festival season arrives, the full rainbow is released!
The summer is all about colour; blue skies, green grass and lots of funky make-up. If you’re heading to a festival this season, or just have a bumper summer packed full of parties and BBQs, get creative with colour and go wild with your image.
Festivals (from Ireland’s Electric Picnic, to Somerset’s Glastonbury) are one of the best excuses to mix up your make-up, and this season our favourite beauty brands have some exciting new offerings for colour lovers. Illamasqua sought inspiration from the psychedelic ‘60s with its new range of fun products, including Lava Lips – a colour intense lipstick made of marbled blue and pink which blend together to create an original vibrant shade every time you use it.
Most exciting are the Sketch Sticks, a multi-use crayon in seven different shades. The creamy texture packs a powerful pigment punch, and can be used on eyes, lips and cheeks.
Hair super brand Fudge Urban has also jumped on the colour bandwagon with its new Hair Art range. The miniature sprays, available in coral, pink, turquoise and violet, allow you to experiment with colour without risking months of misery if you don’t like the look.
The temporary shades wash out easily and will look great in the summer sun. Channelling your inner Lily Allen has never been so simple.
Glitter and gems are another way to add colour into your cosmetics, and we’re loving Lottie London and Make Up For Ever’s efforts. Lottie London has got you covered and whether you’re Coachella Cool or Glastonbury Glam, look no further than its Festival Gems.
Adorn eyebrows and temples with blue crystals, cute teardrops and metallic designs by simply peeling off and placing on the face. If you want more of a glitter effect go for Make Up For Ever’s glitter powders or shaped glitter, in stars, crystals and diamantes.
Stick on with a touch of eyelash glue, gently peeling off at the end of the day.
