Gavin launches personal garden design service

Staff reporter

Gardening fanatics in the UK can now – for a price, of course – call on the talents of Chelsea Flower Show designer Diarmuid Gavin for their outdoor spaces.

Frosts Garden Centre, with four sites across the UK, has joined forces with the Irish garden expert to offer its green-fingered customers the garden design service, personally overseen, attended and managed by Gavin.

He will personally redesign the space and visit the customer on four separate occasions during the design process, which will include an initial consultation, presentation, planting and handover.

Gavin said of the venture: “I’m a hands-on designer and I enjoy rolling my sleeves up.  I’m excited about the partnership with Frosts because it means I can share my expertise and creativity with people who are passionate about their gardens. It’s a real honour for me to be able to see the process through from the germ of an idea to the finished masterpiece”.

Gavin, 49, won an RDS Gold Award in 1991 and 1993, a bronze medal at the Chelsea Flower Show in 1995, a silver-gilt medal in 2004, and a silver-gilt medal in 2007. He finally won a gold at Chelsea for ‘The Irish Sky Garden’ in 2011.
