Glasgow Gaels made the long trip south and soon showed that it was not going to be a wasted trip as they set about their task with gusto from the word go. They loked like a side hell bent on making up for their narrow defeat in the final as they simply overpowered a youthful and inexperied St Colmcilles. With a strengthening wind at their back they poured forward from the start and despite some early profligacy soon began to post their authority on the scoreboard. Sile Johnson’s goal nine minutes in set the tone and try as they did the St Alban’s team just couldn’t hold them at bay. By the quarter hour mark the gap was seven and by the break it had stretched to thirteen. If Colmcille’s hpoed for some respite after the break it wasn’t forthcoming as the winners turned the screw. Laura Sherry was unstoppable at ful forward and finished the game with a healthy 1-8 against her name as well as orchestrating several scores for her colleagues. Despite being under constant seige the losers showed wonderful spirit and pride and are sure to improve with time and experience. Sophie Bates tenth minute goal was scant reward for their efforts but they can hold their heads high. Gaels will face a much tougher test when they face John Mitchel’s in the All Britain decider in what looks like being a match to savour
