Three Wicklow school teachers have returned home after successfully completing a fundraising mission to tweet pictures from 32 counties in just 24 hours.
The road-trip by Patrick Kinsella, Dave Foley and Patrick Mullen was to raise funds for equipment needed at their St Peter’s Primary School in Bray.
They were welcomed back yesterday morning by their pupils, where they unveiled a brand new school crest.
Their adventure began in Wicklow, where they began to document their travels on Twitter by colouring in a map to mark their progress.
And to prove they had delivered on their promise, they also uploaded photographs of themselves posing next to each county’s welcome sign.
Their novel way of raising funds was to get a local Wicklow business to sponsor the uploaded photograph at each county’s stop.
They were clad in specially printed t-shirts for the trip, complete with each county and corresponding sponsor.
Parents also contributed to the sponsorship raised and welcomed the teachers back with a special homecoming breakfast at the school at 11am yesterday morning.
Along the way they sampled culinary delights from across the country, which included burgers in Cork and ’99’ ice-cream cones in Cavan.
They also experienced a slight technology glitch, as their ‘fool-proof’ Sat-Nav led them to a no access route.
