Tom Parker has replaced Tina Hobley on The Jump

The singer, most famous for his work with boyband The Wanted, had been pictured trying out his skills on the slopes in the past few days, but has now been confirmed as an official addition to the Channel 4 programme.

Tom stepped in after Holby City actress Tina dislocated her elbow during ski practice after getting distracted by the fact that crew members were still in the landing area as she took off to jump.

Channel 4 later released a statement admitting they were at fault, saying: “The Jump adheres to the strictest safety protocols to ensure that the health and safety of the competitors is always paramount.

“Tina’s fall was caused by simple human error when members of the ground crew failed to clear the outrun. All those involved have been spoken to and extra procedures have now been put in place by the producers to ensure that this will not happen again.

“We’re very sorry to lose Tina from the competition and wish her a very speedy recovery.”

The 44-year-old actress admitted that she’s in a “lot of pain” and is frustrated by having to leave the winter sports show so early. However, she has been asked to compete again next year, and hopes to be able to do that.

“I am in a lot of pain and I’m very upset to be leaving in these circumstances,” she told the Daily Mirror Online. “This fall wasn’t my fault and as I was doing so well in the competition it’s very frustrating.

“I’ve been invited back to compete next year and I really hope I can do that.”

There have been several injuries on this year’s show so far, including Rebecca Adlington dislocating her shoulder after tackling the Air Jump. She later revealed the pain had been “worse than childbirth”.

Louisa Lytton was the first sent home from the show after failing to get a decent time on the Skeleton and then having a disappointing result in the Air Jump.
